A Moon woman was sentenced to 3 1/2 to seven years in prison today for stealing nearly $1.4 million from her employer.

Marie Garde-Knoche, 39, worked as the office manager for Allegheny Psychological Services and Allegheny Forensic Associates in East Liberty. She maintained payroll records and handled the accounting.

According to investigators, in September 2010, one of the owners there noticed a number of unapproved charges on a debit account. Police say she paid her personal bills with company funds and shopped in Myrtle Beach with company debit cards.

She also used funds to pay off student loans, credit card bills and bills for her boyfriend.

Ms. Garde-Knoche, who pleaded guilty in September to five counts of theft before Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Edward J. Borkowski, also must pay restitution and serve four years probation.
