A McKees Rocks home where a burglary suspect was believed to be hiding was cleared by the Allegheny County SWAT unit Saturday night after no one was eventually found inside, according to KDKA-TV.
McKees Rocks police Chief Robert Cifrulak said the owner of the house at 1350 Chartiers Ave. arrived home after 5 p.m. and found the front door kicked in. When police entered, they found one of the homeowner's dogs bleeding from stab wounds. As officers attended to the dog, they thought they heard sounds coming from the home's second floor. The SWAT unit was called to the scene as a precaution because the homeowner has a collection of guns. Police remained at the scene for a couple of hours before discovering the house was empty.
The dog, a boxer, is being treated for injuries. The investigation into the burglary is ongoing.
