The Montour school board voted 9-0 last night to award more than $13.78 million in contracts for renovations and additions to the Montour Athletic Center, adjacent to the high school on Clever Road in Robinson.

Representatives of Thomas & Williamson Program Management of Ross projected the total cost at $17.14 million to refurbish the facility, including a swimming pool, elevated indoor track and gymnasium. They expected substantial completion by November or December.

The board also voted 8-1, with George Dudash dissenting, to pay $800,000 to settle a lawsuit with Graves & McLean Architects of Pittsburgh.

The firm had claimed $1.9 million for architectural services in a case pending in Allegheny County Common Pleas Court, school attorney Don Palmer said. In 2008, Montour had rejected the firm's work related to a high school renovation project.
