A tip from the public led to Allegheny County sheriff's deputies arresting three people in West Mifflin, and then seizing two stolen firearms and drugs worth thousands of dollars.
Noelle Catlin, 27, of West Mifflin; Howard Morrison, 21, of Duquesne; and Dorian Wood, 24 of McKees Rocks were arrested today on Miday Drive, Lt. Jack Kearney said.
Deputies seized 17 stamp bags of heroin, 18 grams of raw heroin, 2.5 grams of cocaine, and 95 baggies of crack cocaine, he said, as well as a fully loaded semi-automatic pistol and two shotguns, two of which had been reported stolen. The drugs have an estimated street value of $15,000 to $20,000, he said.
Each of the three will be charged with two counts of possession with intent to deliver, a count of receiving stolen property and several counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, Lt. Kearney said.
Morrison and Wood also face three counts of persons not to possess firearms for outstanding warrants, he said. Morrison was wanted on a bench warrant for indecent assault, burglary and probation violation; Wood, for parole violation.
Lt. Kearney said the housing community has been plagued by guns and violent crimes.
"We're trying to do whatever we can to make it a safer community for [the families and young children]," he said.
Members of the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, as well as Duquesne, McKeesport, Pittsburgh and West Mifflin police assisted in the arrests, Lt. Kearney said.
"Any tips are appreciated and will be followed up on," he added.
