Man killed in Waynesburg crash identified

A Waynesburg man was killed in a two-vehicle crash this morning in Greene County.

Charles Hoyle, 63, was pronounced dead at the scene by Greene County chief deputy coroner Mary Lewis, Pennsylvania State Police in the Waynesburg barracks said in a press release.

The wreck happened on Route 218 near Horseshoe Lane, in Franklin Township just south of Waynesburg shortly after 5:30 a.m.

State police said Mr. Hoyle was driving south on Route 218 when he went into the northbound lane and was hit by a vehicle driven by David Barr, 19, of Fairview, W.Va.

Part of Route 218 was closed but has since reopened. Mr. Barr was not injured.
