A new comprehensive plan for Peters residents will be unveiled at a public hearing at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 16 at the township municipal offices on East McMurray Road.
At the hearing, testimony and input from residents and officials will be gathered before a final plan is approved by council.
The comprehensive plan, completed every 10 years, represents a kind of road map of where the township will be in the next 10-20 years.
It will answer questions, like how important is the preservation of open space versus development? What kind of housing is needed for current and future residents? How should traffic be mitigated in congested corridors?
The township also plans multiple public meetings with stakeholders, such as school district officials, business groups and others to discuss the comprehensive plan and their different needs and ideas.
The plan is being finalized this month after months of collecting and analyzing information by a steering committee which has been tasked with completing the final document.
