State police troopers shot and killed a Fayette County man Friday night after the man threatened them with handguns as they responded to a 911 call for a domestic dispute, police said.
Two troopers from the state police Uniontown barracks responded to a call for a domestic dispute at about 10:40 p.m. on Rose Boulevard in North Union.
They were met at the house by Shawn Knight, 50, who police said was pointing a handgun in each hand at them. Police retreated from the home and took cover outside, while Mr. Knight followed them with handguns.
Police said that he ignored verbal commands, at which point both troopers fired shots at him. He was later pronounced dead.
The troopers were not injured and have been put on administrative duties while the incident is under investigation.
