Castle Shannon police are looking for the man they believe hit a woman with an SUV Thursday night, stopped to talk with her, then abruptly drove off.
Police said the woman, 22, was walking with a male across Library Road from Killarney Drive toward Sixth Street about 11:20 p.m. when a SUV going east on Killarney made a left turn onto Library, according to witnesses.
Witnesses said the pair were in the crosswalk and crossing on a green signal when the SUV moved into the northbound lane of Library and hit the woman, dragging her several yards, according to a police press release.
Medics treated the woman, whose name police did not release, at the scene and took her to a local hospital with non-life-threatening back and head injuries.
Police said the driver stopped, had a conversation with the woman and her friend, then indicated that he was going to move his SUV off the road.
He then got into the SUV and drove off, police said.
Police described the driver as a white male about 50 or 60 years old with gray hair and glasses. Police described the vehicle as a dark-colored SUV with a license plate that might begin with the letters "ZDT."
Castle Shannon police asked that anyone who witnessed the accident call 412-473-3056.
Allegheny County police are aiding in the investigation.
