A judge dismissed all charges this morning against a Pennsylvania State Police trooper accused in February of abusing his wife.
Paul C. Mauser, 39, a trooper in the Belle Vernon barracks, had been charged with aggravated assault, a felony, terroristic threats and simple assault, both misdemeanors. He was accused of pushing his wife down a flight of steps, breaking her ankle, state police wrote in a criminal complaint.
At a preliminary hearing this morning, Mr. Mauser's wife, Jennifer Mauser, declined to testify, prompting District Judge Charles Christner to dismiss the charges, according to his office.
His attorney, Jason Walsh, and Westmoreland County assistant district attorney Barbara Jollie were not immediately available for comment.
Mr. Mauser had been placed on unpaid leave after the charges were filed. State police said today he remains suspended without pay.
