Allegheny County police have obtained a warrant for a Duquesne man in connection with two fatal shootings there on Monday.
Michael Robinson, 26, faces two counts of criminal homicide and a felony count of carrying a firearm without a license, according to court documents.
Lawrence Short, 29, of Clairton, and Tyrone Coleman, 18, of Duquesne died in the shootings that occurred about 5:45 p.m. in the 600 block of Crawford Avenue.
Police said the shooting was "precipitated by an ongoing rivalry between family and associates" of Mr. Short and Mr. Robinson.
County homicide Lt. Andrew Schurman would not say whether investigators believe there was a single shooter.
When police visited the home of Mr. Robinson's grandmother on Monday evening, they encountered Mr. Robinson and another male, both of whom ran from police.
After searching the area, they discovered a rifle in an SUV that Mr. Robinson had driven to the location and later, two discarded handguns, one of which had been reported stolen from Lincoln Boro.
Mr. Short was taken to UPMC Mercy, where he died at 10:03 p.m. Monday, the Allegheny County medical examiner's office said.
Mr. Coleman was pronounced dead at UPMC McKeesport at 7:17 p.m.
Mr. Coleman's sister, Vanatee Ausbrook, 25, of Duquesne, said her brother graduated from West Mifflin High School last year and had been working at a pillow factory in Duquesne.
A gifted athlete who hoped to study at a local community college, Mr. Coleman came from a good home, kept to himself and never caused trouble, she said.
"This is the least expected thing that I thought my brother would get killed by -- a gun," she said.
The boy Ms. Ausbrook remembers tagging along with her growing up, always smiling, had just stopped by to visit her on Sunday.
"I just feel like this is not reality right now," she said. "I just feel like I haven't woken up."
Mr. Short's family could not be reached.
