A Clairton pizza shop owner allegedly did not pay more than $60,000 of collected Pennsylvania sales tax, according to a criminal complaint filed by the Attorney General's Office.

The complaint alleges Bethany Verlich, 33, of 878 Craig St., Clairton, owner and operator of Original Pizza Works, 1232 Route 51, in Clairton stole more than $60,000 of collected sales tax by deliberately failing to turn the funds over to the Commonwealth.

The taxes were collected between July 2008 and December 2012, according to the complaint. She is charged with 36 counts of theft by failure to make required disposition of funds, one count of failure to file personal income tax returns, and one count of operating a business without a sales tax license.

Ms. Verlich said Thusday she believed the charges had been dropped and declined to comment further.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 1.
