Bridgeville borough council voted 7-0 Monday night to adopt an ordinance dropping the borough's real-estate tax rate from 6.75 mills to 5.5 mills, a 22 percent reduction.
Real estate tax receipts should stay about the same, though.
With the reduction, the borough hopes to keep within the 5 percent windfall requirement allowed for municipalities after the countywide property reassessment.
If receipts exceed the windfall requirement, the borough will allocate those funds to sanitary sewer capital improvement projects.
