The Bethel Park school board last night passed the 2013-14 proposed preliminary budget with expenditures totaling $77,115,484.
School board President Donna Cook said the preliminary budget likely will be pared over the next several months.
Mrs. Cook also said the board is considering reducing the requirements for graduation. Bethel Park High School students now are required to complete 27 credits to graduate, more than the state minimum of 21. She said the reduction would allow students more time to participate in internships, job shadowing and apprenticeships.
The school board also approved holidays for the 2013-14 school year: Nov. 29, Dec. 24, Dec. 26, Dec. 27 and April 18.
