The Bethel Park school board has approved raises for district administrators.
"Basically, everyone got a $1,500 raise," district spokeswoman Vicki Flotta said.
Administrators who did not receive a full $1,500 raise received a salary adjustment in February or March when they moved to new positions, she added.
Janet O'Rourke, director of secondary education, for example, received a salary increase of roughly $500, but that is not reflection on her performance, Ms. Flotta explained. Ms. O'Rourke was promoted from Neil Armstrong Elementary School principal earlier this year.
Superintendent Nancy Aloi Rose received an increase of $2,700 and Assistant Superintendent Matt Howard's salary goes up more than $1,700.
"The administration received modest raises this year because the Board continues to be cognizant of the current economic constraints," the superintendent wrote in an email. All district administrators volunteered to forgo raises last year, she noted.
Act 93 administrators have an agreement with an established raise based on a satisfactory rating for the year, she said. Non-Act 93 administrators, including the superintendent, are not guaranteed a set increase. Their raises are based on evaluations and the discretion of the school board.
Raises for non-Act 93 administrators include:
Ms. Aloi Rose, from $135,000 in 2011-12 to $137,700 in 2012-13; Matt Howard, assistant to the superintendent, from $118,920 to $120,703; Leonard Corazzi, director of finance and operations, from $93,407 to $94,907.
Raises for Act 93 administrators include:
Zeb Jansante, high school principal, from $118,393 to $119,893; Ms. O'Rourke, from $102,000 to $102,519; Dee Stark, director of elementary education and principal of Lincoln Elementary School, from $102,000 to $102,519.
