New property values for southern suburbs became available today on the Allegheny County website.
The new numbers can be accessed through the county's home page, www.alleghenycounty.us. Choose the "Property Assessment Information" link and then select "Get information on 2013 court-ordered reassessment values."
The county mailed out certified values for properties in the southern suburbs on Saturday, meaning they will likely be delivered with Tuesday's mail to most people.
New assessments will be sent to property owners in the northern and western suburbs as soon as Feb. 27.
The deadlines for making informal challenges to new property values is March 7 for the southern suburbs and March 16 for the northern and western suburbs.
The deadline for all formal appeals is April 2.
The county's $11 million court-ordered reassessment is in its final stages.
The new values will not be used until 2013 for tax purposes, giving property owners time to challenge the reassessment numbers.
Property owners already have made about 35,000 requests for informal hearings or formal appeals. Those proceedings are taking place Downtown in the County Office Building.
County officials are working with the Board of Property Assessment Appeals and Review to set up as many as four other locations around the county, but no schedule has been announced.
