Psychologist to discuss PTSD in the military

Clinical psychologist Donald Meichenbaum, an expert in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder, will address the history and trends of trauma within the military as well as among civilians during a free public presentation on the Washington & Jefferson College campus at 7 tonight.

A distinguished professor emeritus at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Mr. Meichenbaum will speak in the Rossin Campus Center Ballroom. Titled "Resilience in the Aftermath of Trauma: Ways to Bolster Resilience," it is sponsored by the Combat Stress Intervention Program, a W&J-affiliated research program. He is the keynote speaker for the intervention program's third annual research conference on Friday at the Doubletree by Hilton near the Meadows Racetrack and Casino.

During tonight's program, he will discuss resilience-building behaviors. Mr. Meichenbaum also will take questions from the audience. Free parking will be available. Handicapped individuals may call 724-503-1001, ext. 3401, to arrange parking.
