A man was killed this morning in a tree trimming accident that brought down power lines and drew startled neighbors to their windows.
The accident happened just before noon on Robert Drive, a quiet neighborhood off Route 88 in Bethel Park.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner has identified the dead man as 30-year-old Eric Arnold, of Langeloth, Washington County.
He had been working in a harness attached to the tree, which meant power had to be cut to parts of the street so emergency personnel could remove his body.
Kim Smith and her 5-year-old son, Ben, were doing yard work at her mother's house and witnessed the accident.
"Hes already asking questions," Ms. Smith said of her young son, who watched the work of rescue crews from their windows. "I don't know what to tell him. He isn't going to sleep tonight, I know he's not."
