Ohio Gov. Bob Taft yesterday signed into law a bill that permits authorities to prosecute suspects in murder cases that begin in that state but end in another.

"Brian and Aaron's Law" was spurred by the Ohio Supreme Court's decision last year to overturn the death sentence and murder convictions of Terrell Yarbrough in the slayings of Franciscan University of Steubenville students Aaron Land, 20, and Brian Muha, 18. The two were kidnapped from their Steubenville apartment, driven into Pennsylvania and shot to death in Robinson, Washington County, on May 31, 1999.

Yarbrough, formerly of East Liberty, is scheduled to be retried later this year in Washington County.
