Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey A. Manning today approved the prosecution's request to continue the trial for a Franklin Park couple accused of abusing their adopted children.
Attorneys for Douglas and Kristen Barbour did not object to the continuance, which prosecutors requested because the lead officer on the case is on the vacation.
A new trial date was set for Oct. 7, with Judge Manning adding: "The matter may resolve itself."
The Barbours are accused of withholding food from their 6-year-old adopted son as well as causing head trauma to their adopted daughter, who was then 19 months old. They adopted both children from Ethiopia.
The Barbours are not accused of abusing their two biological children.
Mr. Barbour has been suspended from his job as a deputy Pennsylvania attorney general.mobilehome - state - neigh_north
