Emily Cavacini, 11, of Shaler won the girls championship Thursday at the 90th National Marbles Tournament in Wildwood, N.J.

The four-day Wildwood tournament, which began Monday, involved 52 "mibsters" -- 26 boys and 26 girls -- who attempted to knock seven marbles out of a circle using a shooter marble. More than 1,200 games were played on the beach in rings that were built for the tournament.

Emily's championship marks the 10th time in 10 years that a boys or girls national champion has come from Allegheny County.

Previous national champions are Bailey Narr and Brandon Matchett in 2011, Penelope Bauer in 2010, Amber Ricci and John Leffakis in 2008, Alexandra Bauer in 2007, Keith Moss in 2006, Jamie Miller in 2005, and Carly Miller in 2004.

Emily, a fifth-grader at Shaler Elementary School, won the Allegheny County Marbles Tournament on June 1.
