Now that Allegheny County real estate assessment appeals are completed, McCandless council members approved the township's property tax at a "revenue neutral" rate of 1.15 mills for 2013 during their reconvened business meeting tonight.

This amended rate was lowered from 1.29 mills, which was temporarily put in place at the beginning of the year.

Municipalities are required to adjust their property tax rate so they do not have a windfall of tax revenue after the countywide property reassessment.
