A federal indictment alleging possession of body armor naming North Hills rapist Arthur Henderson was dismissed today at the request of federal prosecutors.
Henderson, 39, was sentenced last month by Allegheny County Judge Donna Jo McDaniel to 61 to 122 years in state prison for multiple rapes in Ross and Hopewell.
Last week Assistant U.S. Attorney Ross Lenhardt filed a motion seeking dismissal of the separate federal charge, citing Judge McDaniel's sentence and noting that Henderson will likely "remain incarcerated for the rest of his life."
Prosecuting the body armor case would be an "unwarranted expenditure of valuable judicial and prosecutorial resources," Mr. Lenhardt wrote.
U.S. District Judge Donetta W. Ambrose approved the dismissal of the case.
