Friends sponsorfundraiser for child
Co-workers, friends and neighbors of Colin and Teresa Curry of Hampton will sponsor a fundraising event for 9-month-old Marc Curry from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday in the Pittsburgh Millhouse Grill, 720 Blaw Ave.
Marc was born with Down syndrome and recently has been diagnosed with leukemia. He is undergoing treatment.
Davison/Inventionland co-workers are organizing a collection effort to help the family with hospital bills and other expenses for Marc's treatments. A silent auction will include basket giveaways, massages, gift cards and more.

LA ROCHE COLLEGE
Scholastic awardsto be presented
In affiliation with the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers, La Roche College and North Allegheny School District are sponsoring the Regional Scholastic Art and Writing Awards through Sunday at La Roche College, Babcock Boulevard, McCandless.
Artwork by teens in grades seven through 12 is on display in the Cantellops Gallery and the Zappala College Center.
The exhibition features more than 900 works in 16 categories, including film and animation, sculpture, fashion design, video game design, photography, comic art and design.
The display is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
La Roche will honor the top-winning participants at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Kerr Fitness and Sports Center. Fifteen high school seniors will each receive Portfolio Gold Medals and a scholarship of $10,000.
The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards is for creative teens. The Pittsburgh Arts Region, one of 115 affiliate organizations nationwide, oversees the Scholastic Awards in Allegheny and Butler counties.
Agency offersfree home repairs
North Hills Community Outreach in Hampton is partnering with Christ Lutheran Church to provide free minor home repairs to qualified seniors and low-income adults with physical disabilities.
The repair projects will be done by supervised groups of youth from June 23-28.
To qualify, low-income seniors or adults with physical disabilities must own and live in a home in northern Allegheny County, outside of the city limits; require assistance with small projects such as painting, insulating, minor roofing or concrete repairs; and be able to provide materials to be used in the home.

• North Hills Community Outreach North Boroughs office is offering free tax return preparation in conjunction with the Allegheny County Department of Human services. The service is for those with annual incomes of less than $40,000 if filing jointly or to $20,000 if filing as an individual. Appointments are available Mondays and Tuesdays through April 15. • Senior companions are being recruited to visit older adults in their homes.
Volunteers age 55 or older are needed to serve 15 to 40 hours per week. Senior companions must meet certain income guidelines. They receive a stipend, meal allowance, free monthly training, camaraderie and the satisfaction of helping people in need. Information: 412-307-0069 or email@example.com.
Time to adopt a shelter rabbit
To commemorate February as Adopt a Shelter Rabbit Month, a Bun Run rabbit recess is held from 2:30 to 4 p.m. each Saturday through March 23 at Animal Friends, Camp Horne Road.
