An 85-year-old Ross man was charged today with stealing several hundred thousand dollars from his sister's trust fund.

Byron Chadderdon is charged with theft by deception, theft by failure to make required disposition of funds, receiving stolen property and misapplication of entrusted property.

According to the criminal complaint, Mr. Chadderdon was the executor for the will of his sister, Ora Jean Davis. According to the document, Ms. Davis' estate was to be divided equally among Mr. Chadderdon, her son and grandson.

Mr. Chadderdon was hospitalized on June 10, and Robert Nelson, his nephew, visited him the next day, the complaint said. His uncle asked Mr. Nelson to go to his home to get him a phone number. While at the Ross home, Mr. Nelson could not find the number, but he did find statements for Ms. Davis' trust, showing the balance to be only $80,000 when the man knew from past involvement with the trust it should be about $700,000.

An investigation by detectives with the Allegheny County District Attorney's office showed that Mr. Chadderdon took $670,756 from the trust from 2005 to 2012.

The criminal complaint shows that the man spent several thousand dollars on credit card accounts. homepage - breaking - neigh_north
