A 31-year-old sex offender from McKeesport was arrested Wednesday in New Jersey after illegally leaving Pennsylvania, authorities said.
Michael Millhench pleaded guilty in 2007 to sexual assault charges related to a sexual relationship with a girl who was 15 at the time of the offense, the Allegheny County Sheriff's Office said in a news release. Millhench, who was 24 at the time of the offense, was required to register as a lifetime sexual offender and register his home and work addresses with Pennsylvania State Police.
His parole agent learned that Millhench, who was living at an address in Farkas Manor in McKeesport until last month, had recently fled to New Jersey to live with a girlfriend, the sheriff's office said.
McKeesport police issued a warrant last week for Millhench's failure to register as a sex offender. That spurred the issuance of an Allegeheny County bench warrant for violation of probation or parole.
Sheriff's deputies were able to track Millhench to an address in Sussex County, N.J., where he was arrested without incident by New Jersey State Police. He is awaiting extradition to Allegheny County.
