Gateway School District buildings have resumed normal activities after being on lockdown this morning after a "community incident," according to a statement on the district's website.

"At no time was student and/or staff safety compromised," the website said.

Monroeville had police placed Gateway High School, Gateway Middle and Moss Side Middle schools, and Dr. Cleveland Steward Jr. Evergreen, Ramsey and University Park elementary schools on lockdown.

A district spokeswoman and Monroeville police were not immediately available for comment.
