About the center
Here's a snapshot of the $15 million project to rebuild the Environmental Center at Frick Park. The park began offering environmental programs for children and adults in 1979 and teaches about 1,500 people each year.
Thirteen schools and about 800 adults that use it for classes; the public through good environmental practices.
When will it open?
In 18 to 24 months.
What's the cost breakdown?
$10.75 million for building and landscaping; $2 million for historic entry restoration of the gatehouses, fountain and barn; $1.25 million for design and planning; $1 million for stewardship fund, including woodland restoration.
Who designed it?
Two Pittsburgh firms -- Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, architecture/interior design; LaQuatra Bonci, landscape architecture/site planning.
