For the second time this week, Allegheny County has closed the wave pool at Boyce Park today due to an off-site power outage.
County spokeswoman Amie Downs said workers who showed up at the pool in Plum this morning found the water level down about two feet. The pool has an automatic emptying mechanism that is activated when there is a break in electrical power.
"It has nothing to do with any problem at the county facility, but we can't open for safety reasons with the water that low," Ms. Downs said.
Allegheny County is one of several southwestern Pennsylvania counties under a National Weather Service heat advisory today.
The pool fills up at a rate of about two inches an hour and is expected to reopen for regular hours Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
A similar incident caused the pool to close Monday.
