An young Indiana County man was arrested Thursday and charged with raping four sisters between the ages of 6 and 11 while they stayed with him in Burrell last year.
In an affidavit, state police said Robert Allen Lawson, 19, had sexual intercourse with the sisters aged 6, 8, 9 and 11 while their mother and her boyfriend stayed in his mobile home in December. The alleged rapes occurred when the man, who now lives in Homer City, baby-sat the girls while their mother and her boyfriend were away.
The girls were removed from custody of their mother in March. Police began investigating after a foster family reported to authorities that one of the girls was acting out sexually and described what Mr. Lawson did to her.
He was charged with rape, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, corruption of minors and indecent assault. Indiana County District Judge Jennifer Rega set bail at $100,000 cash and sent him to Indiana County Jail pending a preliminary hearing Wednesday.
