A Penn Hills Democratic committeeman was found not guilty of harassment Wednesday after a one-day bench trial.
Byron Tielsch, 73, was originally charged with stalking and assaulting the owner of Alchemy N'Ale, a Lawrenceville bar in August 2011.
David Santa told police there had been a months-long conflict with Mr. Tielsch and that the man vandalized his business.
Prosecutors dropped charges of conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and attempted extortion, and last week, Mr. Tielsch went on trial before Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Kevin G. Sasinoski on only summary harassment and disorderly conduct.
Mr. Tielsch won a judgment of acquittal on the disorderly conduct charges, and the judge found him not guilty of harassment.
"I was innocent of all these charges, but I had to hang all this time to get the truth out," Mr. Tielsch said. "I'm very happy with the verdict. I was exonerated. They were all false charges made against me."
