The Westmoreland Chamber of Commerce and the Westmoreland Bar Association will sponsor a public forum Wednesday with candidates for Westmoreland County Common Pleas Court.
The forum will address questions on the role of the judiciary and will be held at 7 p.m. in the Ferguson Theater on the University of Pittsburgh Greensburg campus.
The three judicial candidates running in the May 21 primary are all attorneys. They are Bill McCabe, 57, of North Huntingdon; Harry F. Smail, 47, of Hempfield; and Meagan Bilik DeFazio, 38, of North Huntingdon.
They will vie for one Republican and one Democratic nomination in the primary. All three have cross-filed and will appear on both party ballots.
The forum will begin with introductory remarks from John Longo, general manger of WCNS radio station in Latrobe, followed by an outline of the responsibilities of the Common Pleas judges by John Greiner, president of the Westmoreland Bar Association.
Each candidate will have two minutes for opening statements and to discuss his or her qualifications, followed pre-selected questions for all candidates. The forum will close with two-minute final statements.
The event will be broadcast live on 1480 AM radio and rebroadcast during the remaining two weeks before the May 21 election. For information: Westmoreland Bar Association at 724-834-6730.
