The Salute to Senior Service program, sponsored by Home Instead Inc., franchisor of the Home Instead Senior Care network, is honoring contributions of those 65 and older who give at least 15 hours a month of volunteer service to their favorite cause.
Nominations are being accepted through March 31. Call 1-866-996-1087 or visit www.homeinstead.com/greaterpittsburgh.
State winners will be selected by popular online vote April 15-30 at SalutetoSeniorService.com. A panel then will choose a national winner.
Home Instead will donate $500 to each of the state winners' favorite nonprofits. Then, $5,000 will be donated to the national winner's nonprofit charity of choice.
The agency has offices in Whitehall, Oakmont, Coraopolis, Jeannette, Pittsburgh, Zelienople and Washington.
Democrats meet Tuesday
The Murrysville-Export Democratic Club will meet at 7:30 pm Tuesday at the Murrysville Community Center, 3901 Carson Ave.

Forum on shale set
A free public forum to discuss the impact of digging in the Marcellus Shale is slated for 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Fred Rogers Center at Saint Vincent College.
Greensburg physician Ralph Miranda will moderate a panel discussion featuring Nadia Steinzor of Earth Works, Raina Rippel of Southwest PA Environmental Health Project, and Linda Headley, a leased landowner from Fayette County.
Registration is not required for the free forum sponsored by Mountain Watershed Association and Westmoreland Marcellus Citizen's Group.
