A Penn Hills man was charged Tuesday with tampering with evidence after police said he threw out a gun following a homicide.
Kellen Wallace, 21, was also arraigned on a drug charge and a firearm violation. He was being held in the Allegheny County Jail on $10,000 bail.
Allegheny County Police were called to 116 Conestoga Road after 18-year-old Emmanuel Thompson, of Pittsburgh, was shot there on Dec. 21.
Allegheny County homicide Lt. Andrew Schurman said investigators suspect Mr. Thompson had tried to rob Mr. Wallace of marijuana, so Mr. Wallace shot him.
Mr. Wallace, who lived at the home where the shooting occurred, has not been charged with Mr. Thompson's death.
Lt. Schurman said the district attorney's office will decide whether the shooting was justifiable.
While searching the crime scene, investigators found two spent shell casings, marijuana and a partial box of ammunition, according to a criminal complaint.
A witness told police Mr. Wallace threw out a revolver before they arrived at the home.
