The Allegheny County police homicide unit obtained a warrant for the man they say shot four people at New Year's Eve party in McKeesport early this morning.
Julian Sims, 20, is charged with one count of attempted criminal homicide, four counts of aggravated assault, four counts of reckless endangerment and firearms violations. Police said he frequents Braddock, Duquesne and Wilkinsburg and should be considered armed and extremely dangerous.
McKeesport police were called to the 1500 block of Versailles Avenue about 3:10 a.m. today. Sgt. Scott Scherer of the county police homicide unit said the homeowner -- who KDKA-TV identified as Gabriel Patterson -- saw three men he did not recognize in his home as the New Year's party was ending. When he asked them to leave, one pulled a gun and fired shots, police said.
One man shot in the abdomen remains in critical condition, but is stable and is expected to survive. Two men and a woman suffered minor injuries to their lower extremities, police said. The homeowner was not among those shot.
Mr. Sims is 5-foot-7, 145 pounds with freckles and a distinctive tattoo on his neck of the name "Bridgette." He has bench warrants for previous gun charges and is on the Allegheny County Sheriff's list of offenders most wanted for firearm related crimes.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact the county police homicide unit at 412-473-3000.
