More than 40 female inmates at the York County Prison are being treated for carbon monoxide poisoning this morning.
Warden Mary Sabol said 40 to 45 inmates in the female dormitory became sick Wednesday night and that officials are investigating the cause. About 90 women live there.
"We had some people who had some carbon monoxide poisoning," she said. " ... It appears that everyone is going to be OK."
She said the gas levels in the dorm are dissipating.
Emergency management officials in Dover say the patients are at York and Memorial hospitals.
Ms. Sabol says she's out of town but that deputy warden Clair Doll and the prison's facilities manager are handling the situation.
