A Wilmerding man was arrested today on charges that he shot at two Pittsburgh police officers who were responding to a report that he had shot another man.
Monte Blair, 39, faces charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, assaulting a law enforcement officer and a firearms violation.
Major Crimes Lt. Kevin Kraus said in a news release that officers from the city's Zone 5 station in Highland Park were called to the intersection of Zenith and Fleury ways for a shooting on Sept. 9.
When they arrived, Mr. Blair fired from his car at responding officers and drove away, the lieutenant said. He said Zone 5 officers fired back at Mr. Blair and investigators noticed he had several gunshot wounds when they arrested him in the 1000 block of Brushton Avenue in Homewood this afternoon. Homicide detectives and the SWAT team assisted Zone 5 officers with the arrest.
