Pittsburgh police are seeking help in their search for a missing 1-year-old boy.

Raymont Pope was last seen Wednesday on Bennett Street in Homewood. His mother reported him missing after she attempted to pick him up from his grandmother's house.

Police said Raymont may be in the company of his biological father, Radford Pope, also known as Arthur Lee Pope Jr. They may be in East Pittsburgh or Wilkinsburg, according to police.

Mr. Pope had previously taken the child outside the state, according to Pittsburgh Police Lt. Kevin Kraus. Father and son were found together last August at a Los Angeles homeless shelter.

Lt. Kraus said Raymont's mother presented court documents from last year awarding her full custody of the child. Nevertheless, police are treating the case as a custody matter, not a kidnapping.

"We have nothing to make us believe the child is in imminent danger," Lt. Kraus said.

Raymont is described as black, with black hair and brown eyes. He weighs 27 pounds.

Police are searching for Mr. Pope's car, a silver 2007 Chrysler Town and Country with Pennsylvania plate GTX0261.

Anyone with information on Raymont's location is asked to call the Pittsburgh Police missing persons unit at 412-323-7141 or police headquarters at 412-323-7800.
