Jerry Chessman pulled an all-nighter on Friday. Then he kept going and, ultimately, aced the test.
Mr. Chessman, the principal at Shaffer and Wilkins elementaries, pedaled his bicycle nonstop around the Woodland Hills High School parking lot for 18 hours. He started riding at about 4 p.m. Friday and finished around 10 a.m. Saturday, covering 253 miles -- three more than his goal.
His motivations were simple: to show his appreciation "for all of the hard work that Woodland Hills students have done in the past year" and to "raise awareness" for the Tour du District fundraiser, a bike ride scheduled for Oct. 2 and sponsored by the Woodland Hills Foundation.
