The Pittsburgh homicide squad is asking for help from the public in two separate fatal shootings.
The first shooting occurred at 10:15 p.m. Saturday in the 7200 block of Frankstown Avenue in Homewood. William Ford, 31, of Penn Hills, was found dead at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso.
Mr. Ford was well-known by local police, having been arrested previously on drug charges and having been a target of earlier gun violence.
The second shooting occurred at 12:16 a.m. today in the 2300 block of Holyoke Street on the North Side. Devin Gastion, 21, of the North Side, was found on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Allegheny General Hospital, North Side, where he was pronounced dead at short time later.
Mr. Ford pleaded guilty in 1997 to drug charges and was sentenced to 2 to 4 years in jail. In 2005, he was critically injured, sustaining multiple gunshot wounds to his legs, in an incident that involved an attack on city police by the same man who had shot Mr. Ford.
No arrests have been made in either case. Anyone with information is asked to call the Pittsburgh Homicide Squad at 412-323-7161. Callers can remain anonymous.
