A man who was struck by a train on the South Side last month has died, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office.
Ryan Provil, 36, who police say was homeless, was pronounced dead Monday night at UPMC Mercy, the medical examiner's office said.
City police had said Mr. Provil was lying on the tracks under the Birmingham Bridge on Sept. 25 when an oncoming CSX train blew its horn several times. They said he refused to move and the train hit him shortly after 2 p.m. It was not immediately clear why he did not move off the tracks.
CSX police are leading the investigation.
