Police executing a search warrant in Beechview today arrested a 25-year-old suspected heroin dealer and seized 400 stamp bags of heroin worth about $4,000. It's the second heroin-related drug bust in the neighborhood in a little more than two weeks.
Duwayne Lewis, who lives in the 1300-block of Beechview Avenue and was on probation for drug offenses, is charged with "various narcotics offenses," police said. Police also found $468 in cash and a small amount of marijuana in the house.
Detectives identified Lewis as the target of an investigation that began as a result of "narcotics activity in the area."
Lewis' arrest comes after a Sept. 18 drug bust snared four other people in Beechview. Police found 200 stamp bags of heroin worth $2,000, 85 oxycodone pills worth $1,200, more than $2,800 in cash and several cell phones when they searched a home in the 2400 block of Palm Beach Avenue, police said.
Arrested were Christopher Highsmith, 20, of Beechview; Clayton McCray, 19 of Mount Oliver; Onyx Robinson, 20 of Philadelphia; and Brett Jenkins, 22, of Bridgeville.
