A man suffered several broken bones when he was struck by a train on Pittsburgh's South Side this afternoon.
The homeless man, who police have not yet identified, was lying on the tracks when an oncoming CSX train blew its horn several times, city police said. They said the man refused to move and the train hit him shortly after 2 p.m.
Medics took the man to UPMC Mercy, where doctors said had broken legs and an arm and might also have pelvic injuries. It was not immediately clear why the man did not move off the tracks. He is expected to survive.
CSX police are leading the investigation.
