A man already serving 90 to 180 years for three other rapes was convicted of another today.
Michael Lipinski, 43, will be sentenced Thursday by Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Donna Jo McDaniel.
A jury found him guilty of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, burglary and robbery after deliberating less than three hours Wednesday afternoon.
Lipinski was accused of breaking into the Roup Avenue apartment of a woman in Pittsburgh's Friendship neighborhood the night of March 17, 1989. She awoke to find a man standing next to her bed. He bound the woman and taped her eyes shut and then sexually assaulted her.
The victim never saw the man's face and was unable to identify him.
Last year, detectives with the city's cold case unit requested that the DNA from the victim's exam be run against the FBI's national database.
It returned a match to Lipinski, who was convicted in 2010 of three separate attacks between 1998 and 2005 on victims ages, 3, 9 and 17.
