The Allegheny County district attorney's office withdrew charges Monday against a Knoxville man accused of threatening and cutting his brother last month over a dispute about where the man would live.
The DA's office withdrew charges against Kwesi Weaver, 25, after his brother failed to appear in court for the fourth time, spokesman Mike Manko said.
Mr. Weaver had been in the Allegheny County Jail since Aug. 20, when Pittsburgh police charged him with aggravated assault and terroristic threats.
Police wrote in a criminal complaint that they went to the 200 block of Reifert Street that morning for a report that a man, Pernell Deck, had been stabbed.
When they arrived, they found Mr. Deck with cuts on his head and left hand. Mr. Deck told officers his brother, Mr. Weaver, had been paying rent to stay with him. He did not like the living situation so he asked Mr. Weaver to leave at the end of the month, according to the complaint.
Mr. Deck told police Mr. Weaver began "flipping out" and swung a knife, cutting him several times before Mr. Weaver threatened to kill him and ran away, according to the complaint.
