A Pittsburgh police commander injured in a car crash last year is scheduled to return to work next week.
Cmdr. Linda Rosato-Barone, a 33-year veteran of the force, will return to work Monday to supervise the narcotics and vice unit, acting police chief Regina McDonald said in a statement.
"We are glad to have Commander Barone back as a member of our command staff family," Chief McDonald said.
Cmdr. Rosato-Barone, 55, had surgery in July 2012 after she suffered a broken pelvis, femur and ribs in a crash along Steubenville Pike Road.
The commander and her teenage daughter were riding in her department-issued car when a North Fayette woman veered cross the center line and struck them head on.
The other driver was not charged.
Cmdr. Kathy Degler, who has been overseeing the narcotics and vice unit, will return to the city's Zone 4 station in Squirrel Hill when Cmdr. Rosato-Barone returns.
