A Pittsburgh police lieutenant is suing another city officer after he posted a sign in their neighborhood calling the lieutenant "corrupt," according to court documents.
In June, Officer Robert L. Plata posted a sign in front of his home that read "New Allegheny Politicians Are CORRUPT" and listed the name of Major Crimes Lt. Kevin Kraus and Brian Villeneuve, the lawsuit states.
The lawsuit states that the use of the word "corrupt" implies the lieutenant is criminal, and is defamatory and dishonest. It also states that the sign called into question Lt. Kraus' honesty and integrity, with intent to harm his reputation.
Officer Plata and Lt. Kraus both live in the New Allegheny townhouse community in Brighton Heights. According to the website of its homeowner's association, Mr. Villeneuve is the president, and Lt. Kraus, the vice president, of the community's board.
Lt. Kraus referred comment to his attorney, William F. Goodrich. Officer Plata could not be reached for comment tonight.neigh_city - breaking
