The director and deputy director of the Shuman Juvenile Detention Center are no longer employed by Allegheny County, a county spokeswoman has said.
William "Jack" Simmons, the former director, and his deputy, Lynette Drawn-Williamson, no longer work in their positions at the facility in Lincoln-Lemington, county spokeswoman Amie Downs said tonight.
Both received one-week suspensions earlier this year after the county manager's office released a report blasting Shuman's management, drawing attention to irregular discipline and accounting issues.
A Shuman guard was charged in January with slamming a teenager's head into a doorframe, an incident that was caught on tape.
Shuman recently installed new security cameras to shore up holes in coverage, and an audit from the county controller's office is expected to be released soon.
William Stickman, the former interim director of the Allegheny County Jail, will take the reins at Shuman, Ms. Downs said.
