Beginning today, the section of Beaver Avenue between Island Avenue and Branchport Street will be closed during work above the roadway on weekdays from 3 a.m. to 3 p.m.
PennDOT said the closure, which will continue until Aug. 31, is needed for materials to be lifted onto the ramp above Beaver Avenue.
Traffic will be detoured through the area while work is occurring, but the road will be reopened once work is complete for the day. There will be signs to guide drivers along the detour route, according to PennDOT.
The turnaround from Chateau Street to Beaver Avenue near Island Avenue will be closed until the end of August, according to PennDOT.
This construction is included in a $14.2 million project designed to improve the interchange. Other aspects of the project include repairing two ramps over Norfolk Southern Railway and building a new pedestrian ramp to Beaver Avenue, according to PennDOT.
PennDOT said work on the project will conclude in late fall.
