Woman, 77, killed in four-story Squirrel Hill fall committed suicide, coroner rules

A 77-year-old woman who fell Monday from her fourth-floor apartment balcony in Squirrel Hill committed suicide, the Allegheny County medical examiner's office said today.

Janice Bress died of injuries suffered in the fall from her fourth-floor apartment in Maxon Towers at 6315 Forbes Ave. about 10:15 a.m. The balcony had a railing around it.

Ms. Bress was taken to UPMC Presbyterian, where she was pronounced dead an hour later.
