Pittsburgh City Councilman Corey O'Connor has authored a bill to halt nighttime parking meter enforcement that's scheduled to start June 30 in most city neighborhoods.
Under current legislation, enforcement will extend until 10 p.m. across the city as of June 30.
But Mr. O'Connor's bill, introduced today, would keep schedules the same in most city neighborhoods, meaning enforcement would end at 6 p.m. However, in Downtown, the South Side and on the North Shore, parking enforcement would be extended to 10 p.m.
The bill was fast-tracked today, meaning council will take a preliminary vote on it this week and could take a final vote next week.
